24-Hour Home Care
For continuity of care, we strive to provide the same caregiver “team” for the full 24-hour rotation. Consistency in the schedule is always our goal in order to provide the best care possible as we learn your loved one’s personality and needs.
There is no sleeping break given to a caregiver during a 12-hour visit. 24-hour care is billed at an hourly rate. The overnight visit is billed at a flat rate if it is a sleeping overnight (requirements must be met for this to apply) and hourly rate if it is an awake overnight (most clients have awake overnights).
Why Do Families Use 24-Hour Care for a Senior?
- Alzheimer’s disease or dementia causes the person to be up at night, sleeping less.
- The client wanders at night.
- The client is more confused at night – sometimes frightened.
- The client has had many night-time falls when headed to the bathroom.
- The family caregiver works full-time and needs to sleep at night.
- The client just feels more secure knowing someone is available all night for trips to the bathroom.
- The client is recovering from surgery or just arrived home from the hospital and temporarily needs extra night-time care.

Alzheimer's and Dementia Care
Alzheimer’s is the most common form of dementia. Dementia is a progressively disabling disease that causes the person “we know” to virtually disappear before our eyes. Love and kindness are the keys to managing the dementia Client. The experienced Caregiver understands this complicated disease process and copes with Client behavior by separating the Client from the disease.
- The right Caregiver understands that it is the disease that is causing the new behavior and not the Client.
- The right Caregiver manages the Client by always remaining objective and calmly communicating with patience, understanding, love, and kindness.
- The right Caregiver must remain calm and “ride that ride” with the client, always reassuring if/when the Client gets frightened.
- The right Caregiver knows how to use the tone of voice to de-escalate and present an atmosphere of calmness.
- The right Caregiver copes by allowing the Client to freely “go in the cognitive direction he or she is headed” and may undertake subtle attempts at distraction or talking about something else.
- The right Caregiver understands that the Client may not remember what happened 5 minutes ago, but they do remember the FEELINGS they had 5 minutes ago and can lead the client into an area of calmness and reassurance.
- The right Caregiver knows how to use Teepa Snow techniques to engage with the client in a friendly, loving and respectful manner.
The only way into the dementia client’s heart and mind are through love and kindness.

Not only do we incorporate the latest in dementia care training for our Caregivers, we take pride in our efforts to educate the family members in the various subtleties of dealing with dementia (with respect to communication, behavior, personal care, activities) and ensuring we are applying “disease stage appropriate” techniques.
