It is time to acknowledge, not one, but two special home care professionals who we are so lucky to have as partners in our mission at Gauthier Family Home Care.
How many times have you noticed in an obituary that the family mentions the names of the wonderful caregivers or Hospice organization that helped the family through the tough, final stages of their loved one’s life? It does not happen that often, which makes it so special when it does. It means that the caregivers truly became part of the family, and when we hear that from the family, well, what better compliment could we hope to hear?
When I see a caregiver name mentioned in an obit I always think to myself “I sure would like to hire this person, they must be really great!” You cannot blame me can you?!
Tracey Edson Tamela Mecum
Recently we had a long term client pass away. She was a gem. She suffered the ravages of dementia, but she was patient, gentle and was so quick with a smile. Her daughters were very involved with her care, and they were wonderful to work with. When I was reading her obituary, I was elated to read, and I quote, “The family would like to thank her caregiver, especially Tamela Mecum and Tracy Edson.”
This is Nirvana in our line of work! And I do not have to wonder how I can hire these ladies, they already work for us!! Tamela and Tracy have each worked with us for over a year and they are both consummate professionals. They do not call in sick, they are always on time. While they are different people, they go about their business in very similar fashion; completely selflessly. Our client is the focus for both of them, and this family was fortunate enough to have them both on their team for a long time, and more importantly, during the final days of her life when they both brought the family so much comfort. I think there are angels on this earth, and I believe this family just witnessed some of their best work.
